Are you ready to make a difference in the lives of children living in South Florida ?

Catherine

Catherine's (Katie) journey began at 26 weeks utero when the doctors discovered a tumor in her heart. By 27 weeks utero, she was experiencing constant tachycardia and Mom was admitted to St Mary’s Hospital in West Palm Beach, Florida. Out of options to treat her through mommy, she was delivered at 36 weeks. For the first year of her life, Katie and her mother lived in the hospital. Every 7 to 10 days, Katie would go into tachycardia with a heart rate of 270-290.  By July 2012 they were out of options and after 5 days of her heart racing, she fell into congestive heart failure. Unfortunately, 10 days after the first surgery she was once again back in tachycardia, a common type of heart rhythm disorder. After her second ablation, the tumor regressed and appeared to be completely gone. Then on September 18, 2015, the doctors discovered the tumor in her heart had returned. February of 2016, Katie was diagnosed with Tuberous Sclerosis Complex, a genetic disorder that cause tumors to form in various organs. This would mean Katie would need to travel to Cincinnati Children’s Hospital for treatment. Celebrities Fore Kids stepped up arranging flights and accommodations so that Katie could receive the care she so desperately needed. After coming home from Cincinnati for the first time, Katie had to be immediately rushed back to Cincinnati, due to her health. Given only a three day notice, Celebrities Fore Kids once again stepped up and made it possible.

"Their love and support meant everything. I was able to focus on Katie while Celebrities Fore Kids worked tirelessly to take care of every single detail. "Our hearts are filled with gratitude! We couldn't imagine walking this road without you," says Katie's Mother.
